Patio Cable Drum

Cable drums are used mostly for hauling large amounts of cable wire. They are hard to find apart from inside electric companies and such. On the other hand, you may get lucky and find one at a scrap yard or a dump site. If you do find one... don't let it get away! You can find many uses for them! They come in all sorts of sizes, which makes it perfect for different projects!

For instance... a friend of ours found 2 and gave us one! We decided to make us outdoor patio furniture out of it! It was easy, fun, and it looks great!

What You Will Need:

*Cable Drum, size of your choice
* Stain- color of choice, we used Dark Walnut
* Rope- found a bundle at Lowes for $8.00
* Patio Chairs- ours were a yard sale find for $2 each!

How To:

*First of all clean off the cable drum, make sure there is no oil or dirt on it.
* Secondly, sand down any rough spots or edges, you could use your hand to sand and a grit paper 100.
* Thirdly, Stain your cable drum.

* Allow stain to dry.
* Add final touches by wrapping the rope around the base of the drum.

* Lastly, find matching chairs. Like I said, we found some at a yard sale for $4 total! Keep your eye open for those good deals! They are far and between!

We added our $2 plant to the table and I just love the feel it gives!

How To Make A Rain Barrel

While this is not on my top list of things to do this week. One day when we have a permanent home, I may think about it... But, for those of you who are in a permanent home and like this idea... I highly encourage it and would love to see your results!

Young House Love is one of my top blogs I love stalking. This came straight from them. They are a young and fun couple that are now full time bloggers and DIY'ers... oh my dream :)

Enjoy it...

Door Transformed

You know how when you change one little thing about practically anything... it will either transform it in a good way or bad?

Well, I had seen a awesome way to decorate big letters from "Let Birds Fly" and it inspired this wreath idea for my door!

It was SO simple and SO cheap!!!

Purchase List:
-1 Big letter of your choice (on sale for .99 at Hobby Lobby)
- A Basic Wood Wreath with no flowers ( on sale for 2.00 at Hobby Lobby)
- Flower colors of your choice (I went with the colors I did because I got a bundle of flowers at Goodwill for .99... can't beat that!)
- Yarn color of choice (I used something laying around my house)
TOTAL COST: APX. $3.00

To Do:
* Take your large letter and yarn and begin wrapping it... there are many techniques, but however you feel, go for it, it will give the letter character with your special touch!
I hot glued some areas just to be sure there would be no slippage!

* Take your flowers and simply arrange them around your wreath how you see fit. I tried to color arrange mine a little bit... but as you can tell, I am no florist!

* Take your letter and hot glue the corners to fit perfectly in the center.

My puppy was being such a good boy while I was doing crafts!
* I used hemp to tie a little hanging hook to the back, but feel free to use whatever is lying around you house!

Congratulations, you now have transformed your front door... I am so in love it, I find myself outside starring at it at random moments throughout the day!
