January {White as Snow}

{Whiten your Home}

I think of snow in January (although... we haven't seen any yet, I remain hopeful!)
So, let's think of white decor... oh the beautiful white! My mom always says she is always drawn to whites and neutrals... but, is there anything wrong with that? Really!
What do you think? Can there be too much white?
Check out these pics and you tell me if white is too much!

There is nothing quite as pure and clean as white!

So Classy!

Decorate for Christmas {in red and green}

Have you noticed walking the stores this year that the color schemes have gone back to red and green. There have been many years of blues and silvers, or golds and burgundy, or even purple or something crazy... but I am thrilled this year to go back to the tradition of red & green, it's beautiful (i am a fan).

Ok so instead of sending pics your way of red and green decor ideas, I am going to send DIY ideas of decorating for Christmas, this is if you are like me and are way behind on decorating... on no and our 2nd Annual Christmas Party is Monday night! I better get going!!!

Ok let's begin with some simples.
Go NOW to your local Home Goods or Ross and purchase your favorite smelling Christmas scent from Yankee for only $10... yes they are normally $25 so go now!!! I have one in every room and besides the live tree smelling up my house this is doing a pretty good job!
Also, check out the seasonal glade plug ins- AMAZING! Smell up my house even more! So, walk into our house and you will smell CHRISTMAS for sure! So it's a start... then begin the decorations. I always say first comes music, then comes smells, then comes all the rest!

Lastly for the evening, I will give you a homemade potpourri recipe! This will also be more of a cost effective way of making your house smell for the season!
Holiday Stove Top Potpourri Mix:

  • one whole orange or just the orange peel
  • 1/2 cup cranberries
  • 1 Tbsp. whole cloves
  • 3 sticks of cinnamon or a small handful of small pieces of cinnamon
  • a bit of grated nutmeg if desired
Quarter the orange.  Put all the ingredients into a saucepan.  Fill pan with water.  Place on the stove on the smallest burner, on the lowest setting.  Refill water as needed.
ThanksMake It. Do It. for such a great idea!

Now go and make your house scrumptious and we will see you next time. Do you have any smelly ideas??? :)

Don't Overlook {Orange}

I do know, orange is not the first go to color for one's house for decorating or paint choices. BUT, October everyone finds a place for orange. Whether it's via pumpkins, candy corn, or other decor. Most homes you will find orange in, so let's start with some simple yet fun ways to decorate your house with orange for this season of FALL!

{Pumpkin Decorating}:

Might just be might favorite pumpkin decor. yet... and it is very kid friendly!

The simplicity of pumpkins.. you can find a place for any little pumpkin!

Oh these fun colors... I need to go paint my pumpkins!

I love this idea of mod podging leaves onto a off white (painted) pumpkin!

{Candy Corn Decor}

Love this idea from the "Thrift Decor Chick" Yarn covered cones resembling candy corn!

Or this is what you would find in my home... candy corn in the bottom of jars with candles placed on top!

Now if you really want to get thrifty... you could make a candy corn wreath... this may be a kid friendly project as well!

Love the "BOO" with the touch of orange via candy corn!

Hope this has got your creative juices flowing.... til we meet again!
:)

Ways to Antique Your Home {via Yellow}

A touch of that beautiful color of yellow will not only brighten a room, but it will quickly turn a normal room to a antiqued room. See below for some unique ideas on how to use small things in your home to change its entire look.

Welcome {To August}

August makes me think of yellow... maybe because it is usually the hottest month out of the year. Since the sun we typically think of as yellow... I chose yellow!
So, as we move forward with yellows this month, attempt to have an open mind of what you could see yellow in your own home (even if it is only seasonal dishes)!

Enjoy the Ride... here is a sneak peak.

{Red Walls}

So we have been on the theme of Red... we have looked through pictures of cabinets, houses, furniture, and this week we will see how our home could be transformed through {Red Walls.}

Depending on the color choice it could brighten a room or warm a room up, the sky is the limit!

This is an example of how a darker red tone could easily warm a room.

I love this red against white and wood contrast.

Wow, what a beautiful warm bedroom. It is spacious, which is why it doesn't make the room seem small.

Here is red in a bathroom. My bathroom is red and I love it!

Again the red against white is always classy and even gives it a country flair!

This also gives a country flair with the red against wood.

You can never go wrong with a red kitchen! Especially if your kitchen has lots of windows and light, it would be beautiful!

This is my favorite, the eclectic style of bringing reds, yellows, whites, and creams together! Stunning.

Last but not least, the baby girl room. While this is a lighter red with a hint of pink, it is precious and different!

Brighten Your Exterior {through RED}

Why not red shutters or red doors? Wait, why not both?!? Oh to have the cute little white house, black shutters and red door (maybe one day)! But, til then I will live vicariously through you! Go red on your exteriors and let me see the results! Here are some fun ideas!

{my future red door with black shutters... on the beautiful white house!}

{Some houses red on red is a little much... but, I envision this house to be stunningly country!}

{Someone please teach me how to grow amazing knock out roses (or rose bushes as my husband just corrected me) by my front door as these!}

{I absolutely love the old English style shutters}

{Ok, so you may not want the "I need to be painted look," but I liked the color combo!}

A Red {Vacation}

Vacation is: Relaxing, fun, family, sleeping in, staying up late, playing cards, pictures, spending more many than usual (because we are frugal), laughing, crying, conversations, great stories, and many many memories being made.

We absolutely love traveling and vacationing. Particularly this summer we have been blessed to do it more than usual. Starting in, NC spending time with Parker's family, we quickly moved on to be a part of Billy and Vanness Kernersville a Connolly's beautiful wedding. From there we went to Fort Myers Beach, FL with some of our best friends! We spent a few days at home to then leave again on my family vacation to the greatest and largest water park resort in Gatlinburg, TN!

While we have enjoyed our time together and with family, we are home bodies and very much are ready to be still for a while. At times it was tiresome and even stressful, but the times remembered were a blast! Here are a few pictures of where we have been from the end of June until now! Some will be from Dollywood, the beach, friends, family, or random red pictures! Enjoy!

Young House Love {Red Moodboard}

Check out one of my favorite DIY {Home Remodeling} Blogs... Young House Love. She has what is called Color Moodboard. It varies in color... but since it is "Reds in July" we will focus on her red moodbaord! Check out the complete moodboard here.

Country Kitchen {How To}

I love a good Southern country kitchen! When one thinks of country, they typically think of red (or I do at least). Therefore, why not splurge and go for red cabinets! Ok, I wouldn't be the first to think of it... but, after looking at many other awesome ideas, I am kind of thinking of going red in my kitchen! Show these pics to your husband and in no time he will be convinced :) it's worth a try!

{This is a brighter more spunky red... but with the lighting that it has in this kitchen, it makes for a beautiful country kitchen!}

{I love the stove top particularly on this one. The architect of this kitchen would be a blast to work with!}

{If I had my way... this would be my kitchen... veggies and all... maybe one day!}

{I especially love this pot rack... I really want a pot rack!}

Inspire Your Room {Through Your Dresser}

Why not RED... allow it to inspire your bedroom! There are tons of different shade of red... bright red, dark red, vintage red, whatever you like RED! Try it, people put it on their doors and in their kitchens so why not in your bedroom {Specifically your dresser}... let these ideas inspire your dreams for redecorating boldly in your bedroom!

Be Sure to Leave a comment and let me know if you have any "Reds in July" Ideas!
